Because we are fans of the canyons… get it?
We had less than 24 hours in Canyonlands National Park, it was spooky and eerie, and the weather (and the visitor center) was not cooperating. Still, I had a blast.
There are 4 big districts of Canyonlands – Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze, and the rivers themselves that split the 3 sections. Each, in my opinion, get particularly scarier. I mean… the MAZE? Please god do not let me get lost and die in the middle of Utah’s natural canyons and valleys and rivers. Anyway: Island in the Sky is the most accessible, most visited, and the area we went to!
Because it was February, the visitor center wasn’t even open… any day or any time. So that was a bummer. But we trekked on, and BECAUSE it was February, we got to camp in the national park campground for free! That’s not an easy feat during the warmer weather.
I think Kristen was a little over it, seeing as it was her second time there and both times had not-so-wonderful weather, but I’m glad we took the time to go see it. The clouds and low visibility added a level of mystery and unearthliness to it all.
I present to you: Canyonlands National Park.
